Famous reality TV singing competition “The Voice of China (中国好声音)” is gearing up for a new season. But, to the surprise of many, local artist Vanessa Reynauld will seemingly be making her mark on the show!
The 23-year-old artist has built a fairly steady career in Malaysia since she was 15. However, it seems the time has come for her to spread her wings to other parts of the world. Rumour has it that Vanessa Reynauld will be auditioning for China’s “The Voice”.
Vanessa, born in Klang, Selangor, is of mixed Chinese-Indian heritage. As she learned Mandarin in primary school till she was twelve, Vanessa is very fluent in Mandarin. Fluent enough that she has covered several Chinese songs on her YouTube channel, impressing many. However, Vanessa’s love for music isn’t only visible in Chinese songs.
In 2015, Vanessa scored fourth place in Astro’s “Ceria Popstar 3” and represented Malaysia the following year in “文化中国•水立方杯” in Beijing. The young artist nabbed the silver award then. She also joined “Come Sing with Me 3 (我想和你唱 3)” and “越战越勇” later.
Her quick climb gained her attention from Sony Music Malaysia and in 2020, she signed on as one of their artists. Well, this Sony artist hinted at her involvement in “The Voice of China” in June when she shared she was in Shanghai. She’s also supposedly been in China for music lessons and filming.
Well, Vanessa Reynauld isn’t the only local artist to have made it to the stage of “The Voice of China”. Penangite Janice Tan once impressed JJ Lin on the show when she was 16. And now, it’s Vanessa’s turn! We wish her all the best and hope to catch her performance on the show!
