It appears that luxury cars have been getting a lot of negative attention lately. Earlier this month, a Ford Mustang was found illegally parked on a pedestrian walkway inside a shopping mall’s parking lot, and prior to that, a local entrepreneur was accused of stealing somebody’s license plate for his luxury car.

Who can forget the influencer who complained about her Lamborghini not being big enough to store all her cash? Speaking of Lamborghinis, a whole convoy of them were caught driving dangerously on a highway recently. Here’s what happened:

A few days ago, a couple of dashcam videos from different drivers went viral on social media. It showed a convoy of Lamborghinis dangerously driving on a highway in Johor. According to local reports, the viral incident occurred on the Senai-Desaru highway.

In the videos posted, the luxury vehicles can be seen recklessly overtaking other cars on the road, causing the drivers from the opposite direction to swerve out of the way to avoid a possible collision. Not long after the videos started trending, netizens condemned the drivers for their dangerous driving and hope that appropriate action will be taken against them.

According to Sinar Harian, local authorities are aware of the issue and brought in 5 of the irresponsible drivers to give their statements. Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Hussin Zamora told the media that the individuals were all men in their mid-40s to 60s who were on their way for an event in Bandar Penawar.

“The five luxury car drivers came forward to give evidence [on Friday] and were released on bail,” he told reporters yesterday (Sunday, 30th July). As mentioned in the official statement above, the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. If found guilty, they will receive a maximum jail term of five years and a maximum fine between RM5,000 to RM15,000.
