Getting stuck in high places can be absolutely terrifying. Previously, 36 passengers got stuck in Melaka’s Taming Sari Tower’s observation deck for an hour, and prior to that, a man got stuck as he was going down a water slide at a popular waterpark in Penang.

Thankfully, we have professionals to handle these sorts of emergencies and it looks like the Fire and Rescue Department is never done as they had to rescue a man who was apparently stuck on top of a tree, naked. Here’s what happened:

Videos and photos of a naked man being stuck in a tree have been circulating on social media. According to Kosmo, the incident took place at Jalan Todak 4, Seberang Jaya, Penang on Tuesday (18th July).  Mohd. Hafiz Hafizal Timaradin, Assistant Director of State Operations of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) told the media that his team received a distress call at around 8am.

As soon as they arrived at the scene, they found that a man, believed to be mentally ill, was stuck on top of a tree, 20 metres above the ground. “We immediately got to work to bring the victim down using the fire engine’s ladder,” said Hafiz. It was reported that it took 6 personnel to bring the man down from the tree. The victim was successfully rescued by 9.36am.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was already naked prior to climbing to the top of the tree. There is currently no info on where or when exactly he started stripping off his clothes before the incident. “The victim is safe and was handed over to the police and the Ministry of Health (MoH) for further action,” the Assistant Director of State Operations told the media.

At the time of writing, there’s been no update on the man’s condition or the reason he decided to climb the tall tree on the side of the road in the buff. We’re just glad he’s safe and hope he’s doing better.
