After a woman claimed her skin was ruined by a beauty clinic, another is claiming a dermatologist of malpractice on social media. However, this time, the victim had to endure another trauma – getting sexually harassed by the same professional treating her.
Lim Sheng Hui, a local theatre performer, spoke about her experience visiting a local dermatologist at his facility in Bangsar last month. In her IG stories, she shared that the visit was to receive treatment for moderate acne, where the doctor had prescribed Lim a combination of two acne treatments – isotretinoin (Accutane) and borymycin (minocycline). She added that the doctor had prescribed the medications without sharing the side effects.

Fast forward two weeks, Lim noticed discolouration on her facial moles, prompting her to call the clinic, but the doctor dismissed the claims. In addition to the discolouration on her skin, the theatre actress also experienced severe migraines and anxiety. It turns out that the side effects of the prescribed medications include migraines, depression, psychosis, anxiety, and skin hyperpigmentation. According to medical reports, while isotretinoin and borymycin are effective against acne, combining the two is not advisable due to the increased risk of skin issues.
Besides the malpractice, Lim also claimed that the doctor had touched her inappropriately during the consultation session. The stage performer detailed the experience, saying the doctor had “enveloped her thighs with his” and was sitting so close that “her foot was sitting on top of his shoe”. She said that his behaviour left her feeling extremely uncomfortable.

Lim’s story would not be the first allegation of sexual harassment against the doctor because a journalist, Tashny Sukumaran, also accused him of inappropriately touching her during her visit in 2019. The aforementioned doctor had denied the claims despite other victims sharing similar experiences of being sexually harassed by the dermatologist.
The doctor has yet to comment on the latest allegations – but what do you think about Lim’s claims? Was it a misunderstanding? Or is the doctor a repeat offender?
