If you’re going to buy concert tickets to see your favourite artist, you might as well buy them from the official ticketing website. Scalpers and “ticketing services” have already taken the opportunity to purchase Coldplay and Taylor Swift concert tickets in Singapore to earn some extra cash.

If a stranger were to suddenly offer you concert tickets to see these artists for a good price, chances are that it’s too good to be true. This woman, unfortunately, had to learn it the hard way after she was scammed RM600 for an upcoming show. Here’s what happened:

SOURCE: TWITTER

Yesterday (Thursday, 6th July), a local woman who goes by Nurin or @Nuyenggg on Twitter posted that she was scammed when she wanted to purchase tickets to see Indonesian singer Afgan at his show this December at Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. According to her tweet, a Twitter user, who went by @kol889, DM-ed her claiming that he has extra tickets, and asked if she was interested in buying them.

Despite already paying him RM600 for two tickets, the scammer allegedly asked the victim for an extra RM200 for a surcharge. Confused, the netizen asked him to clarify why he couldn’t just give her the tickets she paid for and after refusing to pay the extra money, the scammer blocked her. The victim also included the perpetrator’s banking details in her original post, as seen in the screenshots above.

Much to her surprise, this wasn’t actually the first time the so-called “ticket seller” had scammed someone for concert tickets. Many have previously come forward with their stories of being scammed by the same person. The scammer apparently scammed another Afgan fan back in May using a different Twitter account and he also allegedly even scammed his victims on Facebook for Coldplay and Taylor Swift concert tickets.

After a quick check, the @kol889 Twitter account has been deleted, possibly to avoid facing the consequences. At the time of writing, there is currently no update if the victims have filed police reports against the scammer but let’s hope that they did and that he’ll be caught soon.
