Being stuck in traffic can be frustrating but it’s even more infuriating when someone disobeys the law and causes inconvenience to everyone. Just last week, a delivery rider flipped the bird at a driver despite him being the one to run over a red light.
But it seems that these riders are getting more aggressive as a dashcam recording recently caught a rider damaging a car’s side mirror after almost colliding with it. Here’s what happened:
Over the weekend, a video was posted on the 我们是马来西亚人 We are Malaysians Facebook group which showed an incident involving a Myvi car and a delivery rider. In the video, the Myvi driver can be seen signalling before slowly changing lanes, however, a sped-up rider nearly collided with the car.
Furious, the rider smashed the side mirror of the vehicle before zooming off. According to the post’s caption, the incident took place at Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur. The video quickly went viral with many netizens coming to the Myvi driver’s defense.
Most of the comments condemned the rider for their aggressive action with some pointing out that the traffic was moving slowly and the car can easily be seen signalling to change lanes from afar. Regardless of who was wrong at the time, it certainly did not warrant the rider to intentionally damage another person’s vehicle.
Since this is not the first, (nor will it be the last time) these incidents happened, one netizen suggested that delivery companies implement a system to record and monitor their rider’s behaviour on the road. At the time of writing, no delivery service company has come forward with a statement to address the recent incident.
