When it comes to weddings, some of us may dream of a wedding fit for a celebrity – but of course, the hefty price comes into mind. However, this couple from Sabah prove that you can have a beautiful wedding at a reasonable price.
Newlywed Mohd Ikhwan Shafiq Camillus recently shared pictures from his wedding with his bride, Nor Izyan Mohd, on Twitter. While it’s normal to share wedding photos, what set apart this Sabahan wedding from others was the venue – which took place near Mount Kinabalu.

The groom also shared a TikTok video that showed a clear view of Mount Kinabalu in the background as the couple said their vows. He joked that the wedding could be on par with singer Yuna’s Pahang ceremony when she wedded director Adam Sinclair.
When speaking to a local news outlet, the groom shared that it was his and his bride’s dream wedding and said the planning process took a long time. According to him, the idea came about when the two were having dinner at Hotel Perkasa in Kundasang, which had a nice view of Mount Kinabalu.
He also shared the cost of the wedding, which totalled about RM20,000, including fees for decoration, catering, wedding outfits and accommodation. The groom said the price was reasonable as it was their dream wedding. When asked about all the praises he received for his wedding, the groom said he was grateful for all the comments, adding that he did not expect it to go viral.

Ikhwan also shared tips for couples planning their dream wedding, advising them to ignore naysayers and to plan a wedding that fits their budget. We definitely agree with him on that!
