David Corenswet: 6 Fun Facts About The Actor Replacing Henry Cavill In “Superman: Legacy”

Last year, fans were devastated after hearing news that actor Henry Cavill will not be returning as Superman for future DC Extended Universe projects. Since then, fans have been wondering which actor would be worthy enough to play one of DC’s beloved and iconic superheroes.

Many have suggested their fan cast but it was recently reported that actor David Corenswet will be taking up the mantle for the “Superman: Legacy” movie. Here are 6 fun facts about the new Clark Kent/Superman:

1. Started Acting On Broadway

David Corenswet started his acting career at a very young age. As a child actor, he has appeared in numerous professional theater productions such as “All My Sons”, “Macbeth”, “La Vie En Bleu”, and “The Forgiving Harvest”, just to name a few. His experience on stage is enough proof that he is definitely a skilled actor.

2. He Went To Juilliard

Apart from acting on stage, David also went to Juilliard School in New York City where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama back in 2016. The actor certainly takes his craft seriously.

3. “Pearl”, “House of Cards”, “The Politician”, and “Hollywood”

The 29-year-old has been active in both TV and movies since 2011 with his most notable roles as The Projectionist in the A24 horror movie “Pearl”, Reed in “House of Cards”, River Barkley in “The Politician” and Jack Castello in “Hollywood” where he also served as executive producer for the TV series.

4. Beat Strong Contenders During Audition For “Superman: Legacy”

The role of Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman is a role of a lifetime and surely many would be willing to do anything to be part of something as huge as the DC Extended Universe. The Philadelphia-born star managed to pass the audition, beating strong contenders like Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney and that’s certainly no easy feat as both are known to be remarkably talented.

5. The Actress Who Will Play Lois Lane

The role of Superman isn’t complete without his significant other Lois Lane. It was also announced that David will be acting alongside Rachel Brosnahan who will play the iconic award-winning journalist. The actress is best known for her role as Rachel Posner in “House of Cards” and Miriam “Midge” Maisel in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”.

6. Superman’s Casting Announcement Was Well-Received By DC Fans

Shortly after the announcement was made that David Corenswet will be replacing Henry Cavill as Superman, fans showed their support for the actor by leaving comments on almost all his posts on his Instagram, congratulating him for landing the iconic role. While a few were skeptical of the studio’s decision, David’s version of the last son of Krypton is surely something everyone is looking forward to seeing.
