Normally, criminals would choose to commit crimes in the dead of the night to lessen the possibility of being seen and caught by anyone. However, a tragedy struck in broad daylight yesterday (Wednesday, 14th June) at Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya. It was reported that a man was shot at Mr. Gadget, a handphone accessories store at around 1:30pm by an unknown gunman.
The victim, who was said to be in his 30s, was shot twice; in the head and abdomen but was miraculously still alive after the attack. The police and ambulance were immediately dispatched to the crime scene to aid the wounded man, but sadly, it was later confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Serdang Hospital.
According to the official statement by the Subang Jaya District police posted last night, 3 unidentified men entered the premise before 2 suspects started firing at the victim. During early investigations at the crime scene, the forensic team found two bullet casings, bullet fragments, a bullet shell, two blood swabs, and a pair of slippers.
NST reported that the deceased apparently had a criminal record for robbery and theft. It is currently unknown if the suspects were former allies or victims of his past crimes. A few witnesses who were nearby the location of the horrifying incident have since come forward to share their experiences.
A woman wrote on Xiaohongshu that she was having lunch with her colleagues at a restaurant next door when they suddenly heard gunshots. People on the streets then started rushing into the establishment for safety. “The police arrived at the scene within 10 minutes and cordoned off the entire area. However, the ambulance took half an hour to arrive. I was really concerned about the victim’s chances of survival,” she wrote.
A man who owns a printing store just above the crime scene told the media that he was informed of the shooting by his staff members. “People heard gunshots but at the time no one knew how many people fired. The men in masks all left in a vehicle,” he said. The business owner added that he had never witnessed anything like this in his 17 years working in the area.
At the time of writing, there have been no updates on the case, which is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. If found guilty, the perpetrators will receive the death penalty. Watch the video of the incident below (Viewer discretion is advised):
