When boarding a flight, passengers would commonly find reading materials in their seat pockets; airline magazines, brochures, and safety pamphlets. But did you know that AirAsia also provides a prayer sheet for the passengers?
Canadian author and content creator Xiran Jay Zhao recently went on a trip around Asia with their recent trip being Jakarta, Indonesia. While onboard their AirAsia flight, they discovered a prayer sheet that basically covers 6 different religions.
The YouTuber, who is known for their cultural analysis of popular movies, tweeted a photo of the AirAsia ‘Doa’ or prayer sheet yesterday (Monday, 12th June) with a caption that reads, “This airline really covering ALL its bases”. As seen in the photo above, the prayer sheet consists of prayers for religions such as Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism.
The tweet garnered a lot of attention from international netizens who are fascinated by the existence of the prayer sheet. Some were also wondering why there are only 6 religions listed on the sheet. Luckily, Indonesian netizens have provided some with answers to their questions.
According to one netizen, the reason why only 6 religions were highlighted is that those are the religions that are recognised by the Indonesian government. Some also clarified the difference between Christianity and Catholicism in the context of Indonesia for those who may be confused. There were also those who mentioned that the prayer sheet is a common thing for the Indonesian branch of AirAsia.
One netizen even asked where the prayer for Atheism is to which the Xiran Jay Zhao humorously replied, “No, that’s just the flight safety pamphlet”. The prayer sheet has certainly got a lot of people’s attention and Indonesian netizens definitely took the opportunity to educate those who were curious about the document.
