Everyone loves to sing, but we tend to stick with songs we know, in languages we are familiar with. As such, it was a surprise to see these two Malay singers delighting their audience with a well-performed Tamil song!
There’s no denying that Malaysia is a culturally rich country with very colourful people. As such, we tend to get very excited when we see people embracing others’ cultures. These two Malay singers not only impressed their physical audience but their virtual ones too, with many praising the duo for celebrating Malaysia’s unity.
One of the singers uploaded their performance to TikTok under the username yuletta.yucha. Alongside her fellow singer NoraVanish, the duo were performing at Kajang Road, Northeast Penang Island at what seemed to be a local eatery.
At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 73,000 likes. After viewing it, it’s not hard to see why. The duo performed the song “Perak Kulle” with much gusto, clearly enjoying themselves. One of them kept the beat with the tambourine while the other belted out the song, the syllables rolling perfectly off her tongue. The two also treated their audience to a mini dance befitting of a Tamil song.
Netizens were overjoyed with the performance, with many praising their work. “What energy,” one marveled while another summarised their amazement with: “Wow, respect.” Several praised the duo for representing one Malaysia. “Feel proud to be a Malaysian,” a comment read.
It’s certainly a delight to see the duo not only performing their chosen Tamil song well but with plenty of enjoyment too. Hopefully, we’ll hear more from them, in other languages too, in the future!
