Driving can be considered a cool “adult” thing, so it’s no wonder some children are tempted to get behind the wheel despite being underage. In some cases, even parents are eager to see their kids start driving – but that doesn’t mean they should start so soon. Recently, a video of an underage boy driving a car on the road went viral on Twitter, stunning netizens with the sight.
The video was taken by a group of boys cycling in a town in Klang before spotting another boy driving around a silver Proton Saga. In the video, the 11-year-old boy was alone in the car during the incident, but it was unknown if his parents knew he was driving.

The video was shared on Twitter via MyNewsHub with the caption, “Always watch over our children. An underage schoolboy around 11 years old was driving a car. In the video, the boy looks happy and laughs as he drives.” After the video went viral, many netizens shared their opinions about the incident, with most being concerned and angry.
However, some netizens were also impressed at the boy’s driving skills, given that he used his turn signals before making a turn. There were also comments praising the boys who filmed the incident for not supporting the 11-year-old’s dangerous action.
Following the incident, both the boy and his father have been detained by authorities, and the vehicle in the video has been seized. The case is being investigated under the Road Transport Act for underage driving and the Child Act for neglecting, abandoning, or exposing a child to danger. As of reporting, there have been no updates on any punishment for the boy or his parents.

This isn’t the first time an underage boy got caught driving because just a few weeks back, a 6-year-old in Langkawi wrecked his family’s car after he tried to drive it. Let’s hope parents will be more vigilant of their kids from now on.
