Other than posting his very entertaining food reviews on social media, influencer Ceddy Ang is also known for firing back at haters for their ridiculous and sometimes very hurtful comments. Last year, the public figure called out a racist netizen for using racial slurs against Chinese people.
Recently, someone had questioned the TikToker on Twitter whether he has been paying his taxes, or avoiding it simply because he’s an influencer. Here’s what Ceddy has to say about the accusation:
Yesterday (Sunday, 21st May), Ceddy Ang posted a review video of the DIN by Din Tai Fung restaurant on all his social media platforms. For some reason, one netizen who goes by @Eupherism decided to ask the 34-year-old a question (unrelated to the video) about his taxes by commenting, “Ceddy, does an influencer like you pay tax like us salary peasant to LHDN? asking for a friend 😁.”
As seen in the screenshot above, the netizen tagged all the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri Malaysia (LHDNM)’s accounts on Twitter including Ahmad Maslan, the Deputy Minister of Finance, to possibly instigate the influencer after insinuating that he avoids paying his taxes.
Responding to the snarky tweet, the business owner said, “I was just eating at DIN and there he goes tagging the whole village. But to answer your question: Yes I do pay tax, I engaged an accountant to sort this out for me. Why? Because I just KNOW there are people like you who cannot stand seeing others eating good and want to try to bring me down.”
Most if not all of Ceddy’s followers came to his defense saying the netizen had no business asking about the internet celeb’s taxes. Others thought it was ridiculous to even ask such a question under a harmless food review video. After the tweet went viral, @Eupherism responded to Ceddy’s answer by saying that there was no need to be concerned about their tweet.
“I appended some tags to broaden the potential audience that the inquiry may reach. If you choose not to answer, that is perfectly understandable and respected. I yield my tweet,” they wrote. The Owlet Beauty founder once again called out the netizen for being a busybody and suspected that they had malicious intentions behind the original post.
If you ain’t got anything nice to say, fly your kite somewhere else.
