It’s common for people to argue over parking spaces. Whether one of them actually broke the law or if it was simply a misunderstanding, it’s uncommon for it to escalate into a physical fight. A Grab rider who goes by @apvle_ posted a video on TikTok over the weekend to share an unpleasant experience she had with an auntie over a parking dispute.
In the now-deleted video, the rider wrote that she momentarily parked her motorcycle at an empty parking space to pick up a customer’s order before an auntie confronted her for supposedly blocking the parking space.
@hypemalaysia A Grab Rider claimed that this auntie choked her over a parking dispute. Watch:
The two can be heard arguing before the rider was attacked after calling out the Kancil driver for being rude to her. In several follow-up posts, the delivery woman shared her side of the story, detailing what exactly happened during the altercation. “Yes, I did park in between the two parking spaces as seen in the video and the auntie had also parked her Kancil there ’cause I made sure I didn’t block anyone’s path,” she said.
She revealed that the auntie started hurling abuse at her while she was moving her vehicle to another parking space. The rider stood up for herself after the woman continuously insulted her. She then claimed that the auntie started pushing and choking her and in an act of self-defense, she pushed the auntie off her. The young rider later admitted her mistake of parking at the car park but also believe that shouldn’t have warranted the abuse from the auntie.
The original TikTok post went viral all over social media where netizens’ reactions have been mixed. Many suggested that the rider should’ve just apologised for the incident instead of provoking the auntie more while others defended the Grab employee as she admitted her mistakes and that there was no need for the Kancil driver to get violent over the matter.
At the time of writing, there has been no update from @apvle_ regarding the fight with the auntie.
