Celebrities, influencers, and other public figures would normally apologise for something they’ve said or done after receiving backlash from the public, depending on the circumstances. Some, on the other hand, perfer to stand firm on their decision and explain their actions instead of simply giving an apology like most do.
After posting a satirical video that has offended many, YouTuber Ryzal Ibrahim finally came forward to explain why he won’t be apologising for posting the controversial post. Here’s what he said:
For context, earlier this month, entrepreneur Ryzal Ibrahim of the YouTube duo Durian Kimchi, posted a video on his Instagram where he seemingly threw shade at people of the B40 income group. The post drew a lot of negative attention from netizens saying that the influencer was offensive, insensitive, and ignorant.
Despite the backlash, the YouTube star still refused to offer an apology to those who were butt hurt by his video. “I’ve said this once before that I don’t need to apologise cause I don’t believe I’ve done anything wrong,” he told the media. The father-of-one added that the intention of the video was not to insult B40 groups but to remind everyone to not invest in a “luxurious” lifestyle if they can’t afford it.
“I just want people to realise that this is a daily occurrence in our lives. I don’t mean to insult anyone. I just want them to become aware of their own financial situation,” the influencer elaborated. Although the businessman did not offer an apology, he said he’ll try to be more careful and considerate before posting a joke that could come off as offensive.
Netizens responded to Ryzal’s explanation with the majority agreeing with his statement that he shouldn’t apologise for a satirical video. A few advised him to not post anything that has the potential to spark outrage among the people to avoid the situation from getting worse. What do you think?
