It’s been more than a year since billionaire Elon Musk bought over popular social media platform Twitter and became its CEO. During his time as the company’s leader, the celebrity entrepreneur has received countless criticism over the constant and inconsistent changes made to the platform.
But it looks like everything will change once again as it was announced earlier this morning (Friday, 12th May) that the Tesla founder will be resigning as CEO of the social media site. So who will take over the company? Let’s find out:
After taking on the position for more than a year, in a recent tweet, Elon Musk announced that he has hired a new CEO for Twitter, or X Corp, which further confirmed his resignation from the role. Unfortunately, the 51-year-old did not mention any names but here’s what we know about the new boss:
- The new CEO is a female
- She will be starting in 6 weeks
- Rumour has it that Comcast NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino is in talks for the job
As for what the Chief Engineer of Space X will be doing from now on, he tweeted that he will still transition to another role in the company. “My role will transition to being executive chairman & Chief Technology Officer, overseeing product, software & sysops,” he wrote. So who will be the new CEO of Twitter/X Corp?
According to Wall Street Journal, both Elon and Linda have known each other for a while as the latter once interviewed the former on her “Possible” advertising conference. However, this is all just rumours for now. Neither the newly resigned Twitter CEO nor the World Economic Forum Executive Chairman have commented regarding the speculations.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see when the time comes. Let’s hope the company is in good hands whoever the new CEO may be.
