It’s nothing new for two good-looking actors on set to fall for one another whilst shooting – Zendaya and Tom Holland, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki – the list goes on and on. And that’s exactly what MIGHT have happened between Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell whilst shooting their new rom-com Anyone But You – or at least, that’s what everyone’s been saying and observing.
In case you didn’t already know, Sydney Sweeney is CURRENTLY engaged to Jonathan Davino, and Glen Powell WAS dating Gigi Paris. We used was because they actually broke up around a week ago… SIDE EYE. Now, let’s get into why rumours of the two dating are even surfacing; their Instagram posts. Here’re a few:
Be sure to scroll through all the pictures in both posts. Now, for those of you in relationships, would you let that slide? And for those who aren’t, same question, WOULD YOU LET THAT SLIDE?? Would you be comfortable if your partner was publicly posting selfies of them with another person? Although you could counter that they’re actors and it’s all publicity, wouldn’t that just make matters worse?
Because now, you have full knowledge that your partner is not only getting physically intimate with someone else for the sake of a movie – but for publicity as well? The two smile together, laugh together. They’re hugging and going to the zoo, feeding giraffes together. It looks more like they’re living out the rom-com they’re staring in; and let’s just be honest, nothing they’re doing looks like work.
And even while they’re at work, there’s this photo:
You can’t tell us the way she’s looking at him isn’t… extremely loving, with full admiration? It’s just the faces the two make in all their photos together that isn’t giving “coworkers.” Having said that, we do acknowledge that they are well-known actors and that their work is considerably different from that of the majority of people. We may assume that all of these posts is good marketing for Anyone But You and give them the benefit of the doubt. But then again, how close is too close?
Do you think the rules for an ordinary couple of two people who aren’t famous should apply to actors as well? Just take a look at their red carpet appearance for CinemaCon:
It’s one thing to watch their relationships unfold on platforms like Instagram and use our own imagination to fill in the blanks, but we have to confess that it’s quite another to watch them act it all out in real life. And it appears from every photograph of the two that they genuinely enjoy each other’s company. There are numerous images of Sydney once more, staring in utter astonishment at Glen. Then Glen decided to drop this:

Huh??? Of course, you can once again easily explain that their chemistry is just brilliant marketing, but isn’t this just a bit too much? Since this whole “scandal” erupted, there’s been a considerable amount of backlash from MANY people who are just not okay with the rumoured cheating (if they are actually romantically involved).
We absolutely love a good rom-com, but no one wants the romantic leads to cross a line, ESPECIALLY when very real significant others are involved. Whether it’s a genuine magnetic romance between the two or extremely savvy marketing, their connection is without a doubt going to negatively (or positively) change the way we watch Anyone But You.
But what do you guys think? Are they too close for them to just be “co-stars”?
