Everyone wants to meet Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh. Earlier on Tuesday (18th April), Pavilion Kuala Lumpur was flooded with local fans who had braved heavy traffic to catch a glimpse of the Oscar-winning actress in conjunction with her homecoming event.
Today (Thursday, 20th April), the Ipoh-born star took time off her busy schedule to meet up with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at his office in Putrajaya. Of course, Michelle had to bring her golden statue along with her.
“Today, (I) received a visit from the cultural figure and artiste Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, who recently won the best actress award at the 95th Academy Awards,” reads the caption on Anwar’s social media post. “She recalled the joys and sorrows of her life’s journey, especially to reach her level of success today. She also left a message that the Oscar success was meaningful to her, her family, and Malaysians as a whole.”
In the photos shared, both Michelle and Anwar were seen engaging in a light-hearted conversation. It’s impossible to miss the Oscar statuette that was placed on a round small table in between them. The Malaysian PM added that Michelle’s outstanding achievements had uplifted our country’s name on the international stage and wishes her continued success.
During the media press conference, the “Everything Everywhere All At Once” star said that she was back in Malaysia to celebrate her mom (Janet)’s birthday. After not being able to celebrate the special occasion over the past few years, due to Covid, Michelle wanted this year’s birthday to be an eventful one.
Despite her work commitments – the Oscar winner is currently filming “Wicked” – Michelle Yeoh has expressed her desire to return to Malaysia again, sometime in June or July. Find out more of what happened during the press conference here.
