If you think the Oscar hype is over, think again. After Tan Sri Dato Michelle Yeoh (楊紫瓊)’s historic win at the 94th Annual Academy Awards, Malaysia has been preparing for the icon’s return and public fan meeting event in Kuala Lumpur later this month!
While we’re on the subject of homecoming, the Ipoh-born actress did mentioned during her acceptance speech that she’ll be bringing her Oscar trophy home to her family, and as a woman of her word, she has fulfilled her promise.
Yesterday (Wednesday, 12th April), Michelle Yeoh posted 2 photos on her official Instagram. The first photo showed her mother Datin Janet Yeoh happily posing with the Oscar trophy in her hands. The second photo was of the trophy in front of the actress’s late father, Datuk Yeoh Kian Teik’s tomb.
“Brought Mr. O home. Without my parents’ love and trust and support, I wouldn’t be here today. Love so much ❤️💖✨❤️✨,” she captioned the post, paying tribute to both her parents. Many Malaysian fans and fellow celebs welcomed the “Everything Everywhere All At Once” star home while showing their love and support for the Yeoh family by commenting on the heartwarming post.
It was reported that the 60-year-old was actually back in town for a few days for the Qing Ming Festival, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, before she flew to Hong Kong to attend an event at the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
As aforementioned, the legendary star will return to her homeland once again for a public fan meeting next week on 18th April at Pavilion KL, organised by the same team that held the Oscar Viewing Party last month. Excited to see Michelle Yeoh in person? So are we!
