It’s a sad day for Hong Kong entertainment as it was just announced earlier today (Monday, 10th April) that actor and comedian Richard Ng (吳耀漢) had passed away. He was 83 years old.
It was reported yesterday by Hong Kong news outlets that doctors notified his loved ones of his condition and that he didn’t have much time left. Family members were advised to visit him at the hospital to say their last goodbyes.
According to HongKong01, the veteran actor was on life-support as his heart had stopped working. It was reported that doctors tried to revive him but eventually confirmed his passing after the signing of his death certificate. Back in 2021, the famous comedian revealed that he had only 10% of his kidney function left after being diagnosed with renal failure a few years ago.
Before his untimely death, the Hong Kong icon rose to fame after starring in Michael Hui’s 1976 comedy “The Private Eyes” and his career grew even bigger when he starred in the “Lucky Stars” series back in 1983. Known for his comedic talents, the actor won the hearts of many throughout his career.
His last project was a cameo appearance in the 2016 movie “Skiptrace” and his last public appearance was back in January of last year on businessman Philip Lee’s Instagram post.
Richard Ng left behind a legacy of comedy and will always be remembered and adored by fans worldwide. Rest in peace, Richard.
