Well, we all gotta start somewhere, right? And a few of your favourite celebrities started by taking it off. Yep, you read that right! Before breaking onto the Hollywood scene, almost all of your favourite stars had to take on roles that may not have been very meaningful to them.
For some, it was working as a waiter or a driver; but for seven of the superstars we’ll be discussing today, they chose to strip for the adult film industry! We are NOT, however, demeaning them because, well, they’re hot! And sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do.
So, here are 7 celebrities that came (literally) from the porn industry:
1. Matt LeBlanc
Although Matt Leblanc will always be remembered as Joey from Friends, his acting career didn’t start off quite as charmingly. Early in the 1990s, the actor seized the chance to appear in The Red Shoe Diaries, a high-end cable programme that blurred the lines between drama and porn.
Matt appeared in a significant number of episodes during the first season, which aired in 1992 – exactly two years before the debut of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
2. Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz is among the biggest names in Hollywood. Yet before becoming popular in mainstream cinema, the actress used to perform in soft-core porn – or we could say, was tricked into it…
At the age of 19, a young Cameron engaged in some soft-core porn and S&M, believing that she was helping to create classy nude images. A few years later, the photographer sold the film to a Russian porn company.
Years later, after finding big-time success, Cameron purchased the sex movie’s rights in order to prevent anyone else from seeing it. Cameron unfortunately cannot ban the internet from showing those old films since it’s such a potent weapon.
3. Sylvester Stallone
Sylvester Stallone was a struggling young actor before the Rocky film series made him famous. To make ends meet, he was pressured to take a job in the pornographic sector.
He accepted a role in The Party at Kitty and Stud’s, a soft-core porn movie, while experiencing homelessness and sleeping on the streets of New York City. Later, to capitalise on the fame of Stallone’s portrayal of boxer Rocky Balboa, the flick was renamed Italian Stallion.
4. Sibel Kekilli
In Game of Thrones, Sibel played Tyrion Lannister’s love interest. But before that, she was known as Dilara in pornographic movies. In fact, she once completed 12 films in ONE year!
However, the then-23-year-old faced a sex scandal when a German tabloid disclosed her involvement in the porn industry after she won the Golden Bear award for her role in Head-On. Unfortunately, the revelation devastated her parents to the point where they severed all contact with their daughter.
5. Jackie Chan
Turns out kung-fu isn’t the only ‘sport’ Jackie Chan likes to perform in front of cameras!
In 2006, word spread that action icon Jackie had a role in the adult comedy movie “All in the Family.” Jackie simply shrugged it off and said it wasn’t a big thing, despite the fact that some fans could be surprised by this.
In an interview, the actor remarked, “I had to do anything I could to make a living 31 years ago, but I don’t believe it’s a huge concern, even Marlon Brando used to be exposed in his movies.”
6. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger has a diverse background – he was a bodybuilder, an actor, and the governor of California. But the majority of people are unaware that he also worked as a gay porn star on occasion.
He bared all for the gay publication After Dark. Arnold didn’t mind blurring the lines, saying that just because he had a terrific figure and posed for the magazine didn’t make him or anyone else gay. (Bars!)
7. Sasha Grey
In her X-rated heyday, Sasha Grey’s career in pornographic films would always come up when you Googled her. Nonetheless, the actress went on to mainstream film industry success, appearing in hits like I Melt With You, Entourage, and The Girlfriend Experience.
But she arrived in Hollywood with a reputation already established as a legendary porn-star. Before quitting the porn industry in 2011, she spent five years at the peak of her adult entertainment game. Sasha believes that by working in the adult sector, she was able to overcome her sexual insecurities and remove its stigma.
