Taiwanese lyricist Eason Lee (李坤城) may be known for creating hit songs and was even shortlisted for the Golden Melody Awards. However, most may recognise him for his relationship with his partner Lin Jing-En (林靖恩) who is 40 years younger than him.
Unfortunately, Jing-En revealed some sad news yesterday morning (9th April). According to the 27-year-old, Eason had passed away on 8th April, reportedly from colorectal cancer. But as it turns out, he did not die a bachelor. To the surprise of many, Eason and Jing-En had reportedly gotten married while he was in the hospital!
Netizens first heard about the news from Eason’s son when he made a post on Facebook claiming his father was “lying on the hospital bed (and) dying“. Jing-En later confirmed the news with a post on her own socials. “(It happened) at 8:21(pm) last night,” she revealed.
To make matters worse, the duo had only just celebrated their tenth anniversary. “Ten years in a moment, a moment in three hours,” she penned, expressing her grief. Jing-En also stated that it had been torturous for Eason. “(I) hope to talk about it in seven days,” she ended.
Rumours of Eason’s failing health had reportedly spread in March last year. However, Eason had denied the rumours, claiming his physical condition was fine. The doctor had allegedly praised him, claiming he was healthier than most young people. Eason shared then that he ate healthily, and exercised often. But, Jing-En later shared that Eason had been hospitalised seven months ago for colorectal cancer.
It was during Eason’s hospitalisation that the couple of 10 years agreed to a marriage. Previously, Eason and Jing-En had apparently been fine with not being officially married. However, it supposedly became an inconvenience during Eason’s hospitalisation as many documents could only be handled by “family”.
As such, the two tied the knot on 1st February in the ICU. Two of their friends were in attendance, along with doctors and nurses as witnesses to their ceremony. They had initially planned to get married when Jing-En turned 20. But, after Jing-En’s father attempted to sue Eason for allegedly taking advantage of her, their plans were postponed.
Jing-En has shared that the funeral will be held according to Eason’s last wishes; simple and private. Eason’s son too had paid tribute to his father on his socials, sharing a photo of his dad cradling him. Previously, Eason’s son had claimed his dad apologised for not leaving him an inheritance.
We wish Eason’s family well as they grieve his loss. Our hearts go out to them, and we pray they will find peace in his passing.
