Two years ago, Chinese actress Zheng Shuang (郑爽)’s career took a nosedive after a series of scandals. It all started when her husband, director Zhang Heng (张恒) revealed they had surrogate children hidden in the US. The former couple’s relationship got worse when Zheng Shuang claimed Zhang Heng had cheated on her.
Unfortunately, Zheng Shuang had no further evidence, aside from nudes allegedly belonging to Zhang Heng’s mistress and further claims. Until now, that is. Yesterday (27th March), a video of Zhang Heng being confronted about his affair went viral. What was truly puzzling however, was his reaction to the allegations.
The video showed a man, supposedly Zhang Heng yanking at his own clothes while rolling on the ground. He can be heard softly whimpering while groaning, “I didn’t.” A lady voice, presumably the one recording and which many assume to be Zheng Shuang can be heard talking to him. “Aren’t you with me because I am Zheng Shuang?” she reportedly asked.
This seemed to distress the man further as he ripped harder on his clothes while denying it. “I didn’t! Can you shut up? I didn’t, don’t say (that) about me!” However, the woman continued to push, saying: “There are many people who like me, but in me… in you, I see the three words ‘do not cherish’.” The man then turned hysterical, insisted he hadn’t, while yanking on his hair and clothes.
The video is allegedly from after Zheng Shuang caught Zhang Heng’s affair. However, netizens were more concerned with the man’s behaviour in the video. Several asked after his mental state while others pointed out that his behaviour was similar to “a giant baby”. Some claimed he was acting, or that he had “a new way of apologising”. But a few suspected he might have been on drugs or under a magic spell.
Another video of Zhang Heng also went viral later. This one showed Zhang Heng talking sweetly into the camera. He supposedly promised, “If I dump Zheng Shuang in the future, I will be with you.” However, near the end of the video, he turned to someone off-screen and asked, “Is (this) enough?“. A woman, supposedly Zheng Shuang responded, “I think so.”

There has not been any response from either party about the currently viral videos. However, many netizens are suspecting Zhang Heng’s mind might have been manipulated by Zheng Shuang. Still, it is rather curious that these videos are only surfacing now, after their issue died down.
