It’s been quite a while since Dato Seri Vida made headlines for her antics. The entrepreneur is known to spark controversy with the content she posts on social media. In addition, she has also been criticised for the things she’s done with her friends in public.
Previously, the “I Am Me” singer was slammed for wearing an oversized glammed-up telekung (women’s prayer garment) during a red carpet event. It looks like she hasn’t learned her lesson as she was spotted wearing another over-the-top telekung.
In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Dato Seri Vida posted a video of herself at the mosque after performing the tarawih prayers last night (Wednesday, 22nd March) on her Instagram. The Qu Puteh founder was again seen wearing an oversized white telekung while wishing her followers a happy Ramadan.
“Alhamdulillah, just completed the first tarawih prayer tonight. A very blessed Ramadan to all Muslims,” she captioned the video. The IG post quickly went viral with nearly 500k views, making this her most viewed video since the Gempak Most Wanted Awards 2022 show where she wore the bedazzled oversized telekung which garnered 4.7 million views.
The latest post did not sit well with netizens as many criticised the businesswoman for the extravagant garment. Many said the large outfit was a waste of cloth and that waste is a trait that is abhorred in Islam. Some even questioned the intention of the video as they were not fond of the idea of making meaningless content during the month of Ramadan.
At the time of writing, Dato Seri Vida has yet to respond to the backlash she received. What do you think of her telekung? Too much?
