6 Vegan Ice Cream Spots In The Klang Valley We Totally Have The Hots For!

Who says you can’t have ice cream the vegan way? You absolutely can! Admittedly, vegan dining options are still very limited in Malaysia. Most of what’s available are side rather than main dishes. The same thing goes for desserts – especially ice cream, most of which contain dairy products and other non-vegan ingredients.

So we did some research and found a few gems out there. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, or just searching for plant-based ice cream options, you don’t need to scratch your head anymore! Here are 6 of the best spots to indulge in amazing, vegan-friendly ice creams!

Kelava

Kelava was founded by vegan couple Azlan and Aina in 2017. The name “Kelava” is a combination of the words kelapa (coconut in Malay) and love. This brand creates and sells thick, creamy, entirely plant-based premium, handcrafted, micro-batch ice cream. The beautiful thing about Kelava is that the majority of its desserts primarily use coconut as their ice cream base and are free of artificial flavours and colours, allowing health-conscious dessert fans to indulge, guilt-free.

Kelava sells its ice cream in single or double scoops, with the choice of customizing them with five toppings. Some of the flavours are Strawberry Swirl, Matcha, Cookies & Cream, Onde-Onde, Pistachio, Coffee Latte and Salted Gula Melaka. There are also seasonal flavours, like Coconut Latte, Man-go Vegan and Wild Berries. Our favourite is the Man-go Vegan, one of the new flavours introduced during the launch of its first outlet. It’s a smooth, sweet-sour Mango flavoured ice cream that’s super refreshing. Every Friday, Kelava offers customers a 50% discount on their second scoop. Be sure to check out Kelava at Berjaya Times Square and taste some of their amazing and refreshing vegan ice creams.

Kind Kones

If you haven’t tried or heard of Kind Kones, you’ve truly been missing out. Founded by a group of women entrepreneurs, this is Malaysia’s first fully-vegan ice cream brand. All their ice creams are made by hand from all-natural ingredients in small batches (and in a better kitchen!). Dairy, refined sugar, eggs, preservatives and artificial ingredients are all absent from every flavour. There is a wide selection of vegan ice cream available, with a variety of bases, including water, coconut, almond, and cashew (sorbet). They come with wholemeal and gluten-free options and can be ordered either in a cup (or a tub if you’re ordering delivery) or a cone.

Check out some of their new flavours which include Pistachio Oat, Mandarin and Pecan Praline, Spiced Pine and Orange, Mint Choc Chip, Banana Coconut and Fig Swirl. You can purchase online or check out their shop at Bangsar Village.

Loving Cafe

Loving Cafe, as its name suggests, is all about love – love for superb food, top-notch service, and the laborious preparation process for vegan cuisine. This cafe’s main goal is to spread the word about veganism as a sustainable diet. The Loving Cafe, which is situated at Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, offers a wide selection of salads, soups, and main meals that are completely vegan.

Among their must-tries is a wide selection of vegan ice creams, each of which is handcrafted utilizing grade A cashew cream as one of the primary components. You can choose from flavours including Vegan Vanilla Bean, Vegan Black Sesame, Vegan Matcha, Vegan Passion Mango, Vegan Cacao Nibs Chocolate, Vegan Mocha Almond Fudge, Vegan Roasted Blueberry Balsamic White Chocolate, Premium Green Tea, Premium Green Tea with Red Bean and Pure Strawberry.

Other than ice cream, you can indulge in other sweet treats, such as vegan cakes that come in flavours like Black Sesame Matcha Red Bean Cake with Vegan Bonbons Chocolate, Raw Vegan Fermented Cashew Nut Strawberry Cheesecake, Fudge Walnut Brownies, Vegan Fragrant Dragon Gluten Free Cheesecake and more. Vegans and vegetarians don’t have to worry about a thing when dining here, because everything on their menu is 100% vegan!

Sweet Escape By Inside Scoop

Sweet Escape, an extension of established brand Inside Scoop, promotes lower-sugar ice creams for people who are health-conscious. They even go as far as to use stevia, organic unrefined sugar, and agave syrup as healthier sugar replacements. While some of their ice creams contain components derived from milk, they also offer dairy-free and vegan versions too.

You might want to try their vegan options like Very Berry Skinny (a combo of strawberries, blueberries & raspberries),  Full of Passion and Girl, Let That Man-Go (tarty and refreshing sorbets that taste just like a smoothie), Skinny King (durian flavoured ice cream) and many more. Like it’s brother, Sweet Escape ensures good quality, plus a healthier version of ice cream. Visit Sweet Escape at TTDI today!

It all started when her third son developed an allergy to milk, eggs, nuts and more! Loo Ching Hsin, aka Chloe, is a pharmacist by profession who became a self-taught vegan ice cream maker. All negative12degrees ice creams are vegan, and they do not use instant ice cream paste from the manufacturer, or additional preservatives, flavourings and colourings. They are as natural as can be!

negative12degrees has 3 scooping kiosks located at Bangsar Village 1, Melawati Mall and Datum Jelatek. Try out some of their flavours, like Strawberry Swirl, Salted Butter Pecan, Mint Chocolate Chip and other amazing flavours.

The best thing about Licky Chan is they offer ice cream flavours you never knew you wanted! Of their amazing creations, must-tries include Lost In Translation (Black sesame and raspberry coulis), Two Truths and A Lychee (a favourite combo of lychee and mint with a bit of chilli to spice things up), Midnight in Kyoto (a mix of Matcha, Orgeat, Coconut, Soy Milk and Vegan Pineapple Almond Crumble) and many more flavours that’ll blow your mind!
