Dining out can be scary sometimes… you never what sort of surprises (read: special ingredients) you might discover in your meal. A Malaysian girl recently took to her TikTok to express her displeasure when she discovered frogspawns in her nasi lemak dish.

To make matters worse, she had already finished the whole pack of nasi lemak when she realised what was in her food! “My mom said those are frogspawns. Meanwhile, my partner tried to calm me down by saying that those are basil seeds. I will never eat nasi lemak wrapped in banana leaves again,” the TikToker, known as @amirahjer, said.

The posting immediately caught the attention of many netizens, where many of them were just as disgusted as she was. On the other hand, there were also some who questioned why Amirah didn’t file a complaint to the store owner, and was ranting away on her social media. In response, she later posted another video on her TikTok to address the netizens’ comments.

“Actually, I did make a complaint about this matter. After I finished the whole pack of nasi lemak, I saw the (frogspawns). I was curious, so I snapped a pic and sent it to my mom first before I posted it. I thought it was food at first. I was stupid. My mom claimed that those are frogspawns. I was horrified because I’ve never eaten frogspawns before,” the TikToker revealed.

She then added, “I showed the photo that I took to the worker who was the counter. They were also shocked, and even said, ‘Astaghfirullah’ (I seek forgiveness from God). They asked if I would like to have anything to make up for it. I said I wanted a refund, to which they said that they couldn’t. They offered to replace it with another dish instead.”

“I was not going to order another Nasi Lemak so I agreed to accept an egg sandwich. I left the other pack of Nasi Lemak on the table. Soon after, the cashier asked the plate that I had used because they wanted to show it to the chef,” Amirah shared. She added that the restaurant is located at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL). “Once you enter the building, you can easily spot the eatery,” the woman said.

However, it appears that Amirah has removed both videos from her TikTok account.
