We often hear from women about how traumatising it is to be sexually harassed, especially if it’s by someone they know and/or is supposed to make them feel safe. While we don’t often hear from them, male victims can also be just as traumatised by similar terrifying ordeals but due to the stigma around male victims, many chose to not come forward.
Thankfully, some shared their stories publicly to create awareness and warn others about certain individuals. However scary it may be, it’s best to report and warn others of possible danger. This Twitter user recently came forward with his story of how he was sexually harassed while waiting for the train.
Last Friday (17th February), a Twitter user who goes by @danialharries tweeted his experience of being sexually harassed by a stranger in KL by posting a photo of a man with a caption that reads, “I was sexually harassed by this uncle in black yesterday at MRT Pasar Seni and every time I think about it, it makes me sick to my stomach.” The tweet has since gone viral, now reaching over 770k views at the time of writing.
The young man then shared the rest of the story of what happened that day. According to the Twitter user, he was waiting for the next train to arrive when a strange man, who was referred to as “uncle”, approached him. At first, he assumed that the man wanted to ask for directions or confirm the train’s destination but received a compliment about his looks instead.

The netizen thanked him for the kind words but was then dumbfounded when the uncle asked him if he ever “fooled around”. The man in black repeated his question and that’s when the victim was immobilised by fear. “I was shaking, shocked, and betrayed all at the same time. And he even rubbed my shoulder”, he tweeted. He threatened to call the authorities but the uncle was still persistent in having his way with him.
Thankfully, the confrontation ended when the train arrived but Danial did not board as he was too shaken by the incident which also left him traumatised. Netizens responded to the post with most sympathising with him for what happened. RapidKL also reached out to the victim to ask for further information regarding the incident to prevent this from happening again.
At the time of writing, there is currently no update on whether or not Danial filed a report or if the perpetrator has been apprehended. For now, we’re glad he’s safe and hope he’s doing better.
