It hasn’t been an easy time for Chinese actor Chen Feiyu (陈飞宇) aka Arthur Chen. In fact, just yesterday (13th February) Arthur was suspected of sleeping with a married internet celebrity! Needless to say, the news did not leave many impressed.
Barely a few hours after the reveal, both Arthur and the woman released clarifying statements. But, things got more complicated when rumours claimed Arthur had been blackmailed because of the affair. It certainly hasn’t improved netizens’ feelings on the matter!
It was revealed yesterday that Arthur had a secret lover; Chinese internet celebrity 是亦琳吖 (transliteration: Yi Lin Ya). Photos of the two in bed were released. This made it difficult to doubt the rumour. Around 7pm the same day, Arthur’s agency released a statement. The statement confirmed that Arthur had dated her once, but, claimed both parties had been single at the time.
Lin Ya’s agency also released a statement which corroborated with Arthur’s story. They claimed the duo had broken up a year before Lin Ya got married. They also requested people to stop circulating the photos as they will take legal action against defamatory content. Despite that, netizens still weren’t happy. They apparently felt Arthur had not been honest with them about his relationship status.
Unfortunately, the story didn’t end there. Weibo blogger 吃瓜少女张小寒 later revealed a recording about the issue. The recording was supposedly of a conversation between staff members of Arthur’s agency. During the recording, someone allegedly claimed that the internet celeb had been blackmailing Arthur after their relationship.
The staff supposedly stated that this has been going on “before April or May”. Apparently, the internet celeb had claimed she had been single for two years prior to meeting Arthur. “After (they) had a relationship, the other party got a bunch of photos and asked us to meet. (They) blackmailed us – emotional blackmail. Later (she) found a man and started extorting money,” one staff member supposedly said.
Additionally, since the photos were leaked, the internet celeb has reportedly been contacting Arthur repeatedly. “Suddenly (she mentioned) another man, and the (talk) was about money. The woman (also) said, you have to talk to me about (the) relationship,” the recording allegedly mentioned.
Neither celeb has commented on the supposed leaked recording yet. But, netizens aren’t too concerned about it. Most feel that the bottom line is that Arthur did have a relationship with Lin Ya. Well, it’s certainly a mess for Arthur. Hopefully he’ll be able to sort it out soon.
