Malaysia has always been a popular tourist spot. What’s not to love? We have fairly good weather, nice places to visit and really good food. However, one part of Malaysia has been a hot spot for tourists and celebrities recently. Yup, we’re talking about Penang!
A few days ago, Hong Kong actress Vicky Chan revealed that she had been in Penang for the recent celebration. As it turned out, she wasn’t the only one! Canadian artist Henry Lau (刘宪华/헨리) and South Korean singer Kim Tae-hyeong (김태형) aka Paul Kim (폴킴) were also in Penang recently!
On 7th February, Henry uploaded a photo of a familiar looking place on his Instagram Story. “Guess where?” he teased. Fans didn’t have to wait long for the answer; Henry later uploaded another IG Story clearly stating he was in Georgetown, Penang.
“I just wanna say hi, hope you’re all doing well,” he started, walking down the streets of Penang. Henry also mentioned a shoutout to local fans, saying: “Especially to all my Malaysian fans, I haven’t seen you guys in a while. Miss you!” Not only that, the former Super Junior-M member took the time to compliment Penang. With a quick show of the street behind him, Henry added, “It’s beautiful here.”
Unfortunately, Henry later shared via an Instagram post that his visit wasn’t for long. “I’m just here for a day this time, but I’ll be back soon!” he promised. “Miss you all. Please stay safe and healthy!” Needless to say, his post had many Malaysians welcoming him to Penang and recommending food to try. A few even tried to entice him to KL hoping for a visit and perhaps a concert.

Singer Paul Kim too apparently took to Penang for a quick visit on the same day. Unlike Henry, Paul stuck to the beaches, delighting fans with some picturesque photos of himself with the ocean. “What’s up, Penang?” Paul’s caption on his Instagram Post read.
Fans were immediately regretful that they had missed not one but two potential encounters with their favourite celebs. A few added they hoped he would return soon. But, others were curious as to why both artists were in Penang on the same day. It is suspected the duo were riding the Resorts World Cruises, which Henry mentioned would be heading to Singapore after Penang.
Well, it was certainly a short visit for both Henry and Paul. But, like many others, we hope the artists enjoyed their stay here and can’t wait for them to return. Fingers crossed it’ll be a longer trip next time!
