There’s a lot to look forward to this month. Other than delicious treats for Valentine’s Day, one of the biggest boybands in the world is set to perform live in Kuala Lumpur once more! In case you didn’t know, Westlife is set to return to our shores for their “The Wild Dreams World Tour” on the 23rd and 24th of February!
It’s certainly been a while since the boy group visited our country so fans were obviously excited to hear the announcement that their idols are coming back. After visiting the country numerous times, apparently one of the members is very fond of Malaysia. Here’s what he has to say:

In an interview with The Star, lead vocalist Shane Filan revealed that Malaysia will always hold a special place in Westlife’s heart, especially his. The singer shared that our beloved country holds much importance to the boyband since the very beginning of their career saying, “Every time we think of Malaysia, we think of so many happy memories, which is why we’re very excited to be back.”
The 43-year-old also shared the vocal group’s experience during their last visit here in 2019 for their “The Twenty Tour”, in celebration of their 20th anniversary together as a boyband. “The last time we were [in Malaysia] for our 2019 tour, the two nights we did in the arena (Malawati Indoor Stadium, Shah Alam) were completely sold out. It was such an incredible atmosphere,” he said.

The “My Love” artist also reminisced about the time he and his members went up to Genting Highlands (now Resorts World Genting) in a helicopter after the launch of their first album in 1999. What else does the Westlife member love about Malaysia? The food here. “I’ve tried rendang and chicken curry before – and I’m definitely trying them again – but I haven’t tried nasi lemak yet. I’ll be eating that when I come to KL,” he shared.

In the same interview, Shane revealed that the quartet has added some surprise songs to their setlist for their upcoming show in KL and other South-East Asian countries. According to the BRIT Awards winner, the boyband will perform one song for the first time in 20 years!
Any guesses on what the song might be? Regardless, we’re definitely looking forward to Westlife taking the stage at the Axiata Arena in KL later this month!
