Last week, K-pop fans was rocked with the news of BIGBANG members Taeyang (태양) and Daesung (강대성) leaving YG Entertainment. According to the statement posted by the agency, the former would be moving to The Black Label, YG’s associate company.
Meanwhile, YG stated that the latter decided to “end his contract. He’s looking for a fresh start (with a brand-new company).” A few days after the news broke the internet, Daesung uploaded a video on his YouTube channel to address his departure from his agency of 16 years.
“Thank you, ‘Y’ou were ‘G’ood,” the “Still Life” singer expressed. “Thank you. I feel sincerely grateful (towards the company) for looking after me all these years and helping me grow into the person I am today. With deep gratitude in my heart, I embark on this new adventure. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. As nervous as I am about taking this bold step, I believe it will definitely be worth it in the end.”
Daesung added, “The year 2023 is approaching. Without knowing on what the future holds, I take this step forward into the unknown with only a brave heart. And I intend to walk down this road with a stoic determination. Though I’m still quite inexperienced and lacking in many ways, I hope you will continue to show your love and support for my journey. Thank you. Happy new year, everyone.”

Prior to Taeyang and Daesung, the group’s rapper T.O.P delivered the unfortunate news about his departure back in February last year. Seungri left the group and the agency in March 2019, following a scandal. For now, G-Dragon is the only member of BIGBANG to remain with YG.
