Disgraced singer Wang Leehom (王力宏) fell out of favour last year when he had a messy divorce scandal with his ex-wife Lee Jing Lei (李靚蕾). The former couple had been married for eight years before Leehom was alleged to have cheated on Jing Lei.
Things have been healing since then. Jing Lei was spotted in public a few months ago and she reportedly was doing well. The same could not be said for Leehom at the time, however. But, it seems he is pulling himself together now. In fact, he will supposedly be staging a comeback as an artist next year!
Previously, Leehom had supposedly faded out from the entertainment scene after his divorce went viral. Many were quick to assume that this would be the end of Leehom’s career. We have to admit; it certainly seemed that way. But, in a surprising twist of events, it was announced that Leehom would be performing again on 28th January in Las Vegas, USA next year!
The announcement was made by media company Kwan’s International (宽鱼国际). According to the poster uploaded on their socials, the concert section was named “One: Lee Hom Wang“. A mini caption in his trailer read: “Even if there is only one person… I will sing to you.”
Director of Kwan’s International, Chiu Li-Kwan (邱瓈寬) later shared why she had invited Leehom to be a guest singer for their concert. Li-Kwan shared she had been impressed by Leehom’s resiliance despite everything that had happened. “I thought to myself, music is his belief, and it would be a pity if he (lost that). I always feel talent should not be wiped out,” she stated in an interview with China Times (中時新聞網).
Li-Kwan added she has known Leehom for over 20 years and claimed he was still the “sincere, talented and hardworking” person she had met. “He gave me the feeling that even if only one person believed in him, he would still sing to (them),” she said. The director also stated she has full confidence in Leehom. “Leehom will, as always, perform his best with a critical attitude,” she remarked. “He will (be) singing the first song at the concert.”
Fans have eagerly expressed their support for Leehom’s return. Several have also requested Leehom to visit their countries. A few also happily stated that this would be a fresh start for the artist. Well, we sincerely hope Leehom will be able to make something of himself again. In the meantime, all we can do is wait and see!
