Following Azira Shafinaz and Amelia Henderson, another female local celeb has found herself facing the wrath of malicious commentators over her supposedly inappropriate choice of attire. This time, singer Datuk Syafinaz Selamat sparked controversy over the outfit she wore during the recent “Gegar Vaganza 9” concert.
During the ninth week of the singing competition, the soprano singer wore a long-sleeved sheer top, exposing her chest and also her arms. Many netizens took to social media to put Syafinaz on blast. Most of them pointed out that the 49-year-old celeb should not be dressed in such a provocative manner.
Juri #GegarVaganza9, Datuk Syafinaz Selamat ialah seorang selebriti yang sentiasa menyokong pereka fesyen tempatan. Malam ini, beliau menyarungkan rekaan Ashley Wong dari Kuala Lumpur. In response, Syafinaz later came forward to address the backlash surrounding her outfit. In this case, she clarified that she has been sporting that image for a long time. “From then until now, this is me. I’m turning 50 years old next year. I don’t want others to control my life. If you like me, you can follow me, but if you don’t, just swipe!” the “Ingin Bersamamu” singer told Gempak.
“It’s all our choice. Just comment if you think it’s necessary. If you don’t feel like leaving a comment, just don’t comment on anything. Why are you troubling yourself by commenting on everything that other people did. Just live your own life. I’m not messing with yours, so don’t mess with mine,” the renowned vocal teacher added during the interview.
To be frank, we strongly believe that it’s all up to Syafinaz herself in choosing her own personal style. Who are we to pass our judgement right?
