Slim Shady Syed Saddiq is back at it again yo! This time the 29-year-old politician has rapped into the hearts of the nation! In the spirit of Deepavali, Syed Saddiq worked together with the popular Indian rap group to send political messages for the general election (GE15) next month.
On the evening of Deepavali, the politician tweeted a video of him with three other young men – V Vikneswaran, S Jiven, and P Vishnu. Together, they rapped and brought light to discrimination, racism, and old versus new politics in Malaysia. Within just a day of posting, the tweet caught the attention of many netizens.
Happy Deepavali to all my brothers and sisters.
Let's work together to make Malaysia better. 🇲🇾

The video is basically Syed Saddiq rapping with the three young men. They took turns raising questions for the politician in the form of a rap battle. The three took the opportunity to rap in three different languages – Bahasa Melayu, English, and Tamil. In a surprising turn of events, the politician managed to reply in all three languages as well.
The video raises questions on the quota system, (Bumiputera) privileges, and unchanging principles. The politician was able to reply to all questions, though mostly only attacking old political principles. But the politician did provide one answer: a needs-based system, downright opposing the old race-based systems.

The video ended with Syed Saddiq urging Malaysians to vote for next month’s general election. “We can’t let another five years of losses. Vote the right person, make the right choices.” The politician then added, “Old politics think of their own pockets. (But on) 19th November, take them out! Go and vote!”
In light of the general election season, don’t forget to vote as every vote is vitally important. One vote may change the election, which in turn may change the country. Read here for better preparations for the elections. May our country be in good hands.
