It’s been years since badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei (李宗伟) left his mark on the badminton scene. However, he’s still a prominent figure in the Malaysian scene. As such, it comes as no surprise that Malaysians are happily celebrating his 40th birthday today (21st October)!
You might be wondering what the badminton legend could possibly appreciate for his birthday. Well, as it turns out, Chong Wei has happily shared that. In fact, it has something to do with his much-anticipated third child!
Chong Wei uploaded a video today of his baby’s gender reveal party. It looked to be quite the affair with his family and friends in attendance. As Chong Wei popped the balloon, his sons jumped in excitement as blue balloons and confetti fluttered to the ground, indicating that the baby would be a boy.
However, it seems no one was more excited than Chong Wei. “BESTest birthday present to mark the start of my 4 series (turning 40) journey!” the former shuttler said. “Thank you wife, Mew Choo. Thank you everybody for your blessings.” Chong Wei also added that the whole family is looking forward to “the arrival of mini Lee Ping An (李平安)”.
Netizens were quick to leave birthday wishes and congratulatory messages in the comments section. Some teased Chong Wei’s sons for being so excited. However, another comment cheekily directed their quip to the shuttler instead. “Ohh.. a boy (again)… congrats… I think you are making teams from Malaysia for gold medals,” they joked.
