There’s no denying that anything can happen in life. After all, there’s a reason why we’re advised to live every day like our last. Taiwanese artist Melody Liu (殷悦) certainly felt this pressure when she thought she had cancer.
The 43-year-old artist had apparently gotten a scare once when she was informed she had a risk of getting nasopharyngeal cancer. The news frightened her badly and she supposedly lost 5kg in three days afterwards.
Two years ago, Melody had apparently went along with a friend’s suggestion to have her blood tested. Her main intention was to do a health check via a blood test. However, her testing apparently didn’t go smoothly. The centre later contacted her to inform Melody that they had to retest her blood.
Curious, Melody asked why. Unfortunately, she got a terrible shock when they indicated she had a high risk of nasopharyngeal cancer. Melody was quick to explain that she did not smoke nor did she feel discomfort in her nose. Although she tried to remain composed about the news, she burst into tears the following day when she informed her husband.
The thought of cancer tormented her constantly. Melody admitted she had searched for information about nasopharyngeal cancer online. Upon discovering the estimated lifespan of a nasopharyngeal cancer patient, she became even more frightened. Melody stayed up all night worrying and rushed to a doctor the next morning, asking them to check if she had cancer. “I have two children,” she said as she cried. “Please hurry up and check and if I have nasopharyngeal cancer.”
Thankfully, Melody’s test results came back clean. The doctor informed her that she did not have nasopharyngeal cancer. As such, she was finally able to let the issue go. Hopefully she continues to live a long and healthy life!
