Thanks to food bloggers and TikTokers like Ceddy Ang, famously known as @CeddyOrNot on his socials, we’ve been introduced to new restaurants or cafes that may not be as popular as other well established restaurants but the food they serve are still top quality. While many enjoy his content, one of his recent tweets apparently got some people riled up.

Earlier today (Thursday, 18th August), the influencer deleted a tweet of him praising the fact how the Malays in Sabah have no problem dining at Chinese restaurants that don’t serve pork or alcohol, saying that it’s refreshing to see everyone, regardless or race/religion, dining together with little to no issue. While the intention for the tweet was good, one netizen in particular disagreed with his statement.

A netizen known as @mohdsyafiuddin tweeted a very racist remark saying, “Can’t believe there are many that agree with this statement. It’s a good thing I don’t have any ching chong restaurants to promote”. This led to more people to join in on the argument saying that the food reviewer was not being sensitive towards Muslims and what they are permitted to consume according to their religion.

The blogger deleted the tweet but still defended his statement by calling out the netizen that started the fire. “Yes, you’re not satisfied with me because you think I shouldn’t meddle in religious affairs when I meant to say it’s nice to see people of different races/ethnicities come together but did you have to refer to us Chinese as Ch*ng Chong? Attack me, not the whole race,” he said.

The individual who left the racist comment shortly went private after a heated argument with the TikToker. Ceddy’s replies are still visible and in one reply he said, “YOU rallied people to attack me, you know what you’re doing and then you put out a very racist tweet. I was never racist to anyone. You were.” Many netizens came to the influencer’s defense before and after @mohdsyafiuddin went private.

Now he knows what it’s like, wah when he took my tweet out of context, so many people tagged me and attacked me. Now he pulak yang felt the pinch, sampai had to private account, what goes around comes around. The best part is, it’s HIS own doing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

— Ceddy (@CeddyOrNot) August 18, 2022

Not wanting to take drag the issue any longer, Ceddy tweeted that it’s pointless for him to explain himself any further as some people will still twist his words. He ended the tweet by thanking those who have supported him and understood the message he was trying to convey.
