Datuk From KL Flies To Segamat Via Helicopter To Enjoy Durian Buffet At Local Farm

If you are a big fan of the king of fruits, then now is definitely your favourite season. After all, it’s the time for durian fans to eat and gorge themselves on their favourite fruit!

For most of us, simply buying durians from roadside stalls or enjoying it at your local durian shop is enough. However, a VVIP decided to go the extra mile to taste durians from Segamat. The VVIP not only booked a durian buffet at a durian farm in Segamat, he flew himself and a few friends there via a helicopter!

According to China Press, the VVIP is a businessman with the Datuk title. He supposedly booked the durian buffet to enjoy a variety of local durians. “Businessmen often eat famous durians like Musang King,” explained Lokman Hakim, owner of the Johar Jantan farm. “But they rarely have the opportunity to taste Segamat durians.”

It was also Lokman’s first time in receiving a VVIP guest via helicopter. As such, he took care to ensure the visit went smoothly for their guests from Kuala Lumpur. Lokman prepared a feast of durians, ranging from durian kampung to durian IOI. He also served them fresh fruits from his farm such as rambutans and mangosteens. As a special service, done on request, Lokman included Segamat’s ‘ikan baung‘ dish in the buffet.

The guests certainly enjoyed the feast and took an additional 20 durians back with them to Kuala Lumpur. Lokman shared that the durian buffet cost about RM88 per person and the ‘ikan baung’ meal cost an added RM25 per person. The farm owner was also pleased to add that the farm has obtained the Malaysian Good Agricultural Practice (myGAP) cert, promising that it’s clean, healthy and safe.

Durian lovers will certainly do anything to enjoy delicious durians! As not all of us can fly out for a day trip, the Segamat farm also offers an overnight stay to enjoy the buffet. Unfortunately, Lokman stated that there are no free bookings left for this season. Oh, well! There’s always next season.
