Kim Hyun Joong (김현중) delighted the hearts of many of his fans following the announcement that he would be tying the knot with his non-celebrity lover. In case you missed it, the 36-year-old personally relayed the good news to his fan attendees at his gift concert back in February.
The seasoned singer-actor, who first found fame as a member of the K-pop idol group SS501, recently sat down in a heart-to-heart talk with his friend, YouTuber Inoo Park inookasae, where he spoke up in detail on what he’s currently up to after officially becoming a husband.
During the chat, Hyun Joong revealed that he has officially registered his marriage with his wife. According to him, he first met his significant other at a soondae (Korean blood sausage) stew restaurant when he was still in 7th grade. As per AllKpop, the “Your Story” singer previously opened up about his relationship during his appearance in the talk show “Night After Night” in 2011.
At that time, Hyun Joong talked about having to end his relationship with his GF due to his hectic schedules. He also revealed that he reenacted his past breakup with his girlfriend in the music video for his song “The Smile in Wine”. For those who are interested, you can watch it here:
In the video, Hyun Joong was also asked on the reason why he hasn’t been active in South Korea as compared to the time when he was active as an idol. Though, if you’ve been following Hyun Joong on his socials, then you’d probably notice that he’s been relatively active posting videos of him performing with his band. He shared, “Honestly, band music has now become a mainstream genre in Korea, but it didn’t gain a lot of attention until the present time. It’s not like I can perform live with my band on a music show.”
The “Boys Over Flowers” actor added by saying, “I can’t go on entertainment shows and make people laugh. The public is still probably wary (of my appearance), but if I try to be funny, it feels like that would make me seem like I’m a flaky person. I’m being very careful at the moment.”
Hyun Joong also opened up on the aftermath of his scandal with his ex-partner that broke out in 2014. The “Playful Kiss” star admitted that although both sides were in the wrong, he’s no longer comfortable appearing on TV, fearing that the public would denounce him.
