The bigger they are, the harder they fall. That certainly holds true for influential people, which of course, includes our beloved local influencers.
Some people have opined that being influencers seems to give them a lot of leeway in how they act. But, not everyone is willing to let things slide. Recently, influencers Jestinna Kuan, Elecher Lee (一粒車) and Cherry Quah were called out for dirtying a cable car seat with their shoes.
The post appeared on Little Red Book (小红书) on 8th June. It showcased the trio posing for an OOTD (Outfit of the Day) photo while riding the cable car to Genting Skyworld. Such photos aren’t uncommon. However, all three noticeably had a shoe on the seat.
“The cable car in Genting is a public place, not a private club. We urge all Malaysian netizens to remember to take public hygiene into consideration when taking pictures. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. ” the netizen wrote. To the public, they were quick to advise them, saying “If you want to take the Genting cable car, remember to (clean the seat) first, because you don’t know how many people have stepped on it.”
Other netizens were quick to jump in with their own criticisms. One commented that everyone should care about the cleanliness of public transportation. “It’s a place that you, me and others will use, (it is) not the homes of these internet celebrities,” they stated. “If everyone follows suit, the facility will become dirty.” Another pointed out perhaps the trio did clean the seat afterwards, they simply didn’t show it. Several added that it wasn’t just internet celebrities who did such things, they have also seen other people doing it.
We definitely understand the need to look good for photos. But don’t forget to be responsible afterwards and clean up after yourselves. After all, it takes a village to accomplish anything.
