Taiwanese-Japanese celebrity Makiyo Kawashima (川島茉樹代) is getting married at 37 years old. On top of the joyous news, she also discovered that she is 4 months pregnant accepting her beau’s proposal.
Her partner is reportedly an investor in medical cosmetology, Mr Jin. The unexpected courtship started at the end of last year, and clearly, Makiyo seems to be head over heels with 34-year-old Mr Jin, who is 3 years her junior.

It is believed that Mr Jin had privately charted a yacht on Thursday (19th May) for the occasion and gave her a surprise marriage proposal witnessed by friends and family. She had also confirmed the good news in an exclusive interview with SET News and was unable to contain her excitement and happiness. “I was really overwhelmed by him and lost composure,” she told the news team.
The pair had met over a year ago and had always seen him as a younger brother, yet around December last year, their relationship began shifting. During that period of time, he had invited her to attend a party. The then drunk Mr Jin surprisingly confessed to her and also declared that they should get married after dating for a year and a half. At first, she was startled by the sudden confession as she thought he was under the influence of alcohol.

After seeing how serious he was about her, the singer agreed to date him. But it wasn’t until the passing of her pet cat, when she really saw a long term future with him. It was an emotional time, losing her furry pet. Mr Jin was by her side every step of the way.
The couple also found out that they are expecting after 3 months of dating, when she recalled missing her menstrual cycle. “I was not expecting myself to get pregnant easily, I had also previously considered not getting married, and children wasn’t even in the cards. I was content living my life with my cat,” Makiyo was quoted as saying. There is also the superstitious belief that her child is the reincarnation of her deceased cat. Who are we to judge right?

So how is Makiyo adjusting to pregnancy, you asked? Besides minor pregnancy symptoms, the common nausea and some pregnancy weight gained, the expecting mum is doing a-okay. The new parents will be expecting a baby boy either in October or November later this year. Congrats guys 😉
