Last week we reported that Japan’s largest and most acclaimed lifestyle bookstore chains – Tsutaya Books – will be launching its first store in Southeast Asia right here in Klang Valley.
The first Malaysian outlet will be opening in the brand new Pavilion Bukit Jalil shopping mall, sometime in April this year. As “one of the world’s most beautiful bookstores” around, Malaysia’s Tsutaya Book will adopt a concept of “Cultivate Culture & Lifestyle” – a conducive environment where people can foster relationships and strengthen community bonds.
As aforementioned, Tsutaya Book is no ordinary bookstore. The brand of Tsutaya epitomises a unique concept where no two stores are alike. With that in mind, it’s probably important to note that the Pavilion Bukit Jalil version (with 31,000 square feet of space) won’t look like the stores overseas.
Besides the main bookstore, this lifestyle destination will provide an immersive and relaxing space that include a café for your beverages and pastries fix, specialised merchandise, activity areas (small playground), and more. Think more of having a concept of a popular café in a bookstore, one familiar example is the Starbucks at Borders, The Curve. Indulging in great coffee with a book, well, that’s a treat!
