Calling all book lovers, Tsutaya Books – Japan’s biggest bookstore chain – is set to make its Malaysian debut in 2022. It’s a multi-concept bookstore that doesn’t just sell books, but it also houses a cafe inside, an art display, and various amazing paraphernalia.
This collaborative effort between GOB Oriental Berhad with Sojitz Corporation and Culture Convenience Club is set to launch the first Malaysian Tsutaya Books outlet in Pavillion Bukit Jalil, sometime in April 2022.
Since Tsutaya Books first launched its first store in Hirakata, Osaka back in 1983, the brand has expand to become the largest retail bookstore chain in Japan with 1200 outlets in the country. There are also 9 other outlets in Taiwan and China.
Those who have visited Tsutaya Books in Japan have commented that the brand offers a perfect marriage between traditional pass time and modern-day accessibility. Looking at the photos of Tsutaya stores from overseas, it has a breathtaking interior and exterior – in addition to an unparalleled collection of books.
In case you weren’t aware, Taiwan’s biggest Eslite Bookstore was supposed to open its Malaysian store in The Starhill, Bukit Bintang this year. However, the pandemic has delayed the launch date to 2022 as well.
