Can’t find your keys? Misplaced your mobile phone again? If you’re someone who is prone on losing things, the new Apple AirTag is a lifesaver.
Recently launched in Malaysia, AirTag is a small wireless tracker that is designed to help iPhone users find any of your belongings. Simply ping it, and the gadget will help you find it.
The Who, How, & What
Who is it catered to
It’s compatible with iOS 14.5 and above:
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
How to use
When setting up for the first time, just place your gadget near the AirTag and it’ll automatically set up. It’s super effortless. Enter a name for your AirTag, attach it to the item you want to track and youʼre good to go. The Find My app allows users to know the item’s current or last known location on a map.
If your item is within Bluetooth range, the Precision Finding will help the user with the turn-by-turn direction that guides you straight to your lost item. As you can see from the screenshots below, the arrow will show the distance and point you to the right direction.
But what if you left your item on a bus or dropped it somewhere else? Put your AirTag on Lost Mode and it’ll ping out a silent signal to any nearest Apple device and communicate it back to you. The message on iCloud will show up on your account to inform you of its latest location.
- Privacy is built in – The location data is encrypted every step of the way and even the devices that relay your AirTag’s location remains anonymous.
- Water and dust resistant.
- The CR2032 battery lasts a year and will notify you when the battery is getting low.
