As expected, Malaysia will be undergoing a tighter MCO 3.0 following the alarming rise in Covid-19 cases and deaths.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that starting from 25th May (coming Tuesday), a few Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) will be adjusted under the MCO 3.0.

✅Farmasi dibenarkan beroperasi sehingga jam 10 malam.

— KKMalaysia🇲🇾🩺❤️ (@KKMPutrajaya) May 22, 2021

The highlights are as follows:

  • An increase of roadblocks will be enforced at all roads
  • 80% of government workers to be enforced to work from home
  • 40% of private sector workers are enforced to work from home
  • All public transportation to limit to 50% capacity only
  • High risk places (according to HIDE list) to close effective immediately
  • Shoppers can only spend a maximum of 2 hours at retail premises, including shopping malls

As for the economy sectors, the majority can only operate between 8am to 8pm only:

  • Restaurants, hawker stalls and food trucks: 8am – 8pm
  • Convenience stores: 8am – 8pm
  • Laundromats (except self-service laundromats): 8am – 8pm
  • Shopping malls: 10am – 8pm
  • Hospitals and clinics: 24 hours
  • Pharmacies: 8am – 10pm
  • Petrol Stations: 8am – 8pm
  • Highway Petrol Stations: 24 hours
  • Night markets: 4pm – 10pm

Of course, Twitterverse is filled with memes about the new announcement.

Whole week meeting after meeting and this is the shit they come up with?

Hannah Yeoh also brought up some good points by answering the public’s queries:

Almost everyone sitting at the MKN table has a driver if I'm not mistaken. I may be wrong. https://t.co/uFR2fEscFL
