Travel: 8 Glamping Sites You Must Visit In Malaysia

For those of you who love the outdoors but also cherish the luxuries of comfortable living – glamping, aka glamorous camping, is the way to go. One of the most wonderful things about travelling in Malaysia is that it offers you a mix of upscale and modern experiences, kampung and casual experiences plus the glamping fusion for those who want the best of both worlds.

As quarantine restrictions are starting to ease and everyone just cannot wait to get back on the road, glamping is becoming more and more popular for today’s travellers. Glamping is perfect as it satisfies the need to be outdoors while also avoiding the struggles that come along with camping outside. Malaysia has an extensive array of beautiful glamping spots, which is why we have created a list with some of the best destinations for your next vacation.

1. Dusun Bonda (Batang Kali, Selangor)

This little cosy escape is located not too far away in Batang Kali, Selangor. The glamping site is around 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the heart of Kuala Lumpur and it is the cutest little spot.

You can dip into a natural hot spring and go fishing at a fishing pond just a few minutes away. The glamping site is further equipped with a swimming pool, hillside BBQ and kitchen patio, riverside kitchen, rooftop dining deck, kids playground and prayer room. You name it, Dusun Bonda has it.

Dusun Bonda is ideally located near a jungle which leads to the Ulu Tamu river and has two villas and 9 bell tents for rent. The prices for these villas and tents range from RM350 to RM800 per night, depending on the size, location and day of booking.

2. Castra by Colony (KLCC, Kuala Lumpur)

Castra by Colony offers a glamping experience that is on another level of fabulous. The luxury encampment in situated on a rooftop terrace on Star Boulevard, KLCC. This place is the definition of camping in the city itself as it sits right in the centre of Kuala Lumpur’s buzzing Golden Triangle.

Castra ensures utmost privacy for its two luxury tents placed in a private garden lounge with outdoor patio seating and a BBQ deck. The tents and their decor are Mediterranean-inspired and are such a pretty sight for the eyes. Honestly, we know the point of glamping is to be outside, but when you’re tucked inside these gorgeous tents you’ll never want to leave.

The tents are equipped with air conditioning, high definition TV’s, Bose outdoor speakers and unlimited high speed wifi.

3. Gopeng Glamping Park (Gopeng, Perak)

Nature and adventure seem to get along well at the Gopeng Glamping Park located alongside the serene village of Kampung Chulek in Gopeng, Perak. This glamping park is ideal for those who absolutely love to relax those nerves or pump some adrenaline.

The park offers outdoor activities and facilities that give you both the option to either lounge around all day or seek an exciting adventure. The BBQ facility, outdoor fire pit, HUGE hammock, picnic area, wooden swing and river beach will definitely assist you in enjoying some holiday downtime. On the other hand, the park’s trampoline, volleyball area, open field, free bicycle rides, dirt bike rental and tube rental will keep you up and about. If you want the full outdoor experiences that caters to all individuals, moods and desires, then the Gopeng Glamping Park is ideal.

The price ranges from a reasonable RM158 to RM238 on weekdays, depending on if you are booking a double or quad tent. For weekends, the park offers fullboard packages ranging from RM158 onwards. The tents have deliberately been kept basic but comfortable, in order to avoid too much lavishness hindering a natural outdoor experience.

4. Caravan Serai (Bentong, Pahang)

Caravan Serai is a glamping site sitting on 10 acres of natural landscape in Bentong, Pahang. This site is surrounded by the Keratong River and has been designed in a manner that closely resonates with the classic camping experience – minus the unwelcome bugs or the uncomfortable sleeping situation.

The site offers an array of multiple outdoor activities that truly allow guests to connect with nature and it’s wild glory. All guests are encouraged to go on Caravan Serai’s nature walk and then take a dip in the river pool after a long and fulfilling trek through the hills. Additionally, guests can also do a tour of Bentong and visit the elephant sanctuary, deer land, historical Chinese temple, hot spring and more! For the adrenaline junkies, the glamping resort also offers ATV rides and paintball games.

Caravan Serai eco resort have suite rooms with an attached living hall and bathroom, and also deluxe safari tents for the more outdoor holiday experience. The safari tents are equipped with double or single beds, private attached bathrooms and air conditioning (optional).

5. Lost World of Tambun (Ipoh)

This glamping staycation is designed out of the box in every way possible. The glamping site stands out not only because of it’s glamorous camping experience but also because it’s located in the centre of an actual theme park! Who knew you could camp without a forest or a jungle? This is quite literally a camping experience like no other.

The prices for the glamping tents range from RM1078 (2 pax) and RM1438 (4 pax). All tents come with bed and breakfast, access to the Lost World Of Tambun theme park and Lost World Hot Springs Night Park. Guests can also request BBQ facilities for an additional RM120 and air conditioning for an additional RM75.

6. Time Capsule Retreat (Sungai Lembing, Pahang)

This hidden gem is a personal favourite. Staying true to its name, the Time Capsule Retreat hosts tiny little “capsule” shaped rooms placed around its vast land. The site is ideally located in the depths of a lush forrest where the greenery soothingly envelops itself around these cosy little circular rooms.

The activities in this glamping site is perfect for those who want to simply relax and be one with nature. You can snuggle up and read a book on a hammock, take a tranquil bath in the retreat’s outdoor jacuzzi and watch the sunrise while listening to the gentle sounds of nature. The retreat is also popularly known for its rainbow waterfall. Yes, a rainbow waterfall. And no, that’s not just what the waterfall is called, there is an actual rainbow just floating next to you while enjoying a nice swim.

The rooms at the time capsule retreat are small but cosy. Perfectly designed to make you feel safely snuggled up in the depths of beautiful greenery. If you desire a more exclusive experience there is also a parallel discovery room with front and side full glass windows and a private outdoor jacuzzi.

Just 45 minutes away from the heart of Kuala Lumpur lies a bamboo haven made to satisfy any glamper’s needs. This resort has a versatile range of accommodation and outdoor activity options that will perfectly suit families, lovers and even solo travellers.

Guests can obtain the resort’s Day Pass or Beyond the Day Pass which give access to exciting activities such as a Tarzan swing, ATV, abseiling, archery and water sports – that’s just to name a few. One thing that can be guaranteed in the Tadom Hills Resort is that you will never run out of things thing to do and can spend your entire holiday appreciating the outdoors.

The signature design of this resort is that it is all made of bamboo. For those of you who want the real glamping experience you may opt to stay in a bamboo or tent or even rent out a single hammock. 8. Glamz at Genting (Genting Highland, Pahang)

Glamz at Genting is unique, modern and chic. The most eye-catching feature in this glamping site is the use of spacious domes for their accommodation. If you want to take make things a little bit more interesting on your glamping trip, a stay in these would do the trick. The domes are massive and have enough space inside to hold a queen sized bed, couch and even a hammock!!! Imagine being able to glamp so luxuriously that your “tent” even has a hammock inside it… So cool.

The Glamz experience is less about adventure and more about taking unwinding with a deep breathe of fresh air. The glamping site has a green house, cafe, public jacuzzi, steam room, star tent lounge area and playground.

The domes at this site all come with attached private bathrooms and are priced at different rates depending on the size. There is also a VIP dome with private jacuzzi, while Glamz offers bell tents for those who prefer a more traditional camping experience.
