Earlier on Tuesday (8th December), Malaysian politician Lim Guan Eng (LGE) celebrated his 60th birthday.
The Bagan MP was visited by Syed Saddiq who showed a touching gesture by gifting him with a Sabah-made woodcut print and a heartening handwritten note.

The news came to light when Lim Guan Eng took to his Facebook to express his gratitude to his Pakatan Harapan (PH) ally. He wrote, “I am touched by his gesture for my birthday. He presented me with a very meaningful piece from Pangrok Sulap and a handwritten letter. Although he is less than half my age, Saddiq has proven himself to be a leader with integrity and intelligence.”
The best part about Syed Saddiq’s gift to Lim Guan Eng is definitely the birthday-wish handwritten note that he personally wrote for the DAP politician. The usage of words in the note is indeed very moving, even if it was read from a third’s person perspective.

He wrote, “Hello Sir. Happy Birthday. May god bless you & the family always. When I first entered politics, I thought you were the embodiment of ‘evil’. Years of indoctrination (mis)shaped by view of you & the family. However, after serving side-by-side, in opposition-government-back to opposition, you’ve truly changed my mind.”
Syed Saddiq went on to say that he will always be by his (LGE’s) side as long as the latter puts the country first. He also declared that they will always fight together for the sole reason that they “both love Malaysia more than anything else.”

Following LGE’s Facebook post, netizens took to the comments section to wish a “Happy Birthday” to the DAP politician. Some also left their regards to Syed Saddiq for his heartwarming gesture.

Back when PH was in power as the government, Guan Eng and Saddiq held ministerial position in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, respectively.
