With so many malls in KL, the experience can be generic and repetitive but it’s all going to change with the completion of The Exchange TRX Mall in 2022.
The supermall will be integrated in The Exchange TRX, aiming to be Malaysia’s biggest lifestyle district by the year 2025.

Instead of the usual shopping complex, developers Lendlease, and TRX City Sdn Bhd is opening a lifestyle hub, The Exchange TRX, with a prominent element being a mall which will house a whopping amount of 500 stores, including F&B outlets. On top of the mall will feature the new green heart of Kuala Lumpur, a 10-acre rooftop city park.
The integrated supermall, The Exchange TRX Mall is currently under construction and is set to finish in 2022. It will have 1.3mil square feet of net lettable area compared to Singapore’s biggest shopping centre, VivoCity, which only has 1.1mil square feet.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, once The Exchange TRX is complete in 2025, it will comprise multiple blocks of residences, hotels and offices. Datuk Alfred Cheng, group managing director of Sogo KL has commented that the district’s versatility makes it the one place to “work, eat, play, shop and have fun.”
Upon completion, the lifestyle district will be able to attract many visitors and tourists due to its strategic location. The area is only one MRT stop away from Bukit Bintang and 2 stops from KLCC.

A part of the project is The Exchange 106, South-East Asia’s tallest skyscraper which will soon be dethroned by The Merdeka 118. Learn more about the new tower here.
