Following the death of Naya Rivera, reports have been circulating with claims that Naya’s sister, Nickayla Rivera, has been getting intimate with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey – who is also the father of her young son.
After Naya tragically passed away on 8th July 2020, her sister and former partner seem to have found comfort in each other’s company, while raising the “Glee” star’s son together. According to Daily Mail, the duo have been spotted shopping together at Target, playfully holding hands and even moving into together!
Due to these sightings of the pair looking very cosy with each other, rumours about them dating have been rapidly spreading online over the weekend. In response to these speculations, Nickayla took to her Instagram stories on Monday (28th September) claiming that she is not “concerned with the way things look”.
Her story reads:“In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends & family. Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself. Im not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonising moment we all endure.”
Ryan also responded to these claims by taking to his own Instagram account a few hours ago this morning (30th September). In a 12-minute-and-9-second long video, the 37-year-old actor shared his heartbreaking story in regards to the backlash he’s gaining from netizens due to these rumours.
The “Ray Donovan” star starts off the video by stating that the celebrity pair have even been receiving “terrible messages wishing (them) death”. His exact words were: “It’s been brought to my attention that there’s a lot of people who have a lot to say and opinions on a family’s tragic situation… There’s people making judgments, making assumptions, they’re sending terrible messages wishing death upon strangers who they truly know next to zero about.”

Furthermore, Ryan went onto describe the touching story of how his son, Josey, wanted his aunt to come live with them, as she is the closest person the 5-year-old has to a mother figure.
“‘I want Titi (Nickayla) to live with us forever,’ because she’s now the closest thing that he has to a mom, because you’re gonna need all the help you can get as a single parent, trying to build your career and navigate this disaster with your child and you deal with it every hour of every day for 80-plus days now,” explains the “Prettyface” actor.
Ryan then criticises all the negativity he has been receiving from the public by saying, “Even if you know it’s temporary and it’s not forever. It’s a temporary situation, and after all that he’s had to go through, how could you deny him that? Because of what? Because of what some strangers might think or say or spew some hatred based on some ill-advised, illogical, misinformed tabloid? It’s sad. It really is.”
The father of Josey also added, “I wouldn’t want any of you to ever have to go through any of that and to have to let him get what he wants, what he asks for and what he needs right now, which is his family.”
As Ryan aptly captioned his Instagram post, “it’s not always black and white”. It’s undeniable that Naya’s family members are currently struggling through a very difficult time after having to endure her sudden death.
Our hearts go out towards Ryan and Nickayla, and we hope that the haters will give the pair some breathing space during these hard times.
