The Hindu deity statue found in BLACKPINK (블랙핑크)’s “How You Like That” music video has been removed following massive backlash from K-fans!
For those who don’t know, the video came under fire recently for apparently disrespecting Hindu culture and religion. In the screenshot below, the sacred statue was placed on the ground during member Lisa’s solo scene.
Enraged with that, a lot of K-pop fans (especially Indian BLINKs) took to Twitter to demand the group’s home label YG Entertainment to clear the air on the issue. Not only that, some also claimed that YG was being insensitive and urged them to be more respectful on the matter. They even trended the hashtag #YGapologise and #Ganesha on social media.
Not long after that, fans noted that YG have quietly edited out the statue in the clip without re-uploading the music video. It seems like YG Entertainment reached out to YouTube and Google for permission to change the scene without losing the views.
Though there have been no clarifications provided by YG even up until the present day, we have no doubt that a lot of K-Pop fans are still happy that they took action. Check out the edited version of the MV here:
